The Quarter Horse originated in America during the
colonial era. An official breed association was not
formed until the twentieth century. The breed takes it's
name from the sport of horse racing which was popular
amongst the colonist. Each race was about a quarter mile
long.
Many sires have contributed to help make the breed what
it is today, Old Sorrel, Doc Bar, Three Bars,
King, Easy Jet, Top Deck and Dash for Cash to name a
few. Quarter Horses are bred for many purposes. They are
used on ranches for working cattle, Quarter Horse racing
is more popular than ever and the Quarter Horse is the
popular choice in just about every western type equine
competition such as rodeo timed events like team roping,
barrel racing, steer wrestling and calf roping. The
Quarter Horse is also popular with other western events
like cutting, sorting, western pleasure and team penning.
If you don't already have a Quarter Horse, find out why
most cowboys say they would not own anything but a
Quarter Horse. That's what Quarter Horse Ads .com are
